Numerous gameplay changes for a less linear progression. Repair capabilities from start, useful starting walls and a full rework of bodies.

More capabilities from start

Two more capabilities for the early game to make the expansion phase more dynamic.

The walls available from the beginning without any research behaves like hardened walls, with less durability. They combine well with towers without being a reliable defense once a few tanks are built. These walls have a new 3D model to better reflect their use.

A repair turret is available without any research. Although they are not that much effective, they allow to use the auto-retreat feature to gain an advantage in the long run. The other repair turrets were enhanced to give them a more significative impact.

Body rework

There are now only two body classes, sharing the same cost. One offers an HP bonus, the other an armor bonus. The HP bonus is more suited against weapons with high-damage per shot or armor piercing ones, the armor bonus works better against weapons with a high rate of fire or lower damage per shot. Quality vs quantity is already covered by the size of the body.

Their cost and HP gain are reduced to make mixing body and turret size more relevant. he research costs where reduced accordingly. The difference between sizes is reduced to increase the importance of the gain in speed and durability with smaller turrets, without impacting too much the damage output compared to a smaller body.

The weapons were updated to better match this changes. The rate of fire and damage output are adjusted without changing the use of each class.

In term of balance, cannons now have less HP but a higher damage output. The damage of the flamer 3 was reduced. Those from the machinegun 1 were increased. Larger mortars gain extra shots. These changes are rather important in this version and can be tweaked in the future.

Miscellaneous changes

After the 3D changes for wheels and tracks, it is the turn of the construction turret to have a new model. Changes to all components are planned for a more consistent and recognizable look for each class.

Nullbot and Nexus AI were updated. Nullbot now uses random bodies and propulsions instead of favoring tracks and armored bodies.

The flamer 3 tower was not unlocked when researched, this is fixed. Oil depletion was broken with an update of Warzone 2100, which is also fixed.

  • Nullbot and Nexus AIs can use AA machineguns as ground defense
  • Nullbot will build a command centre first when starting with no base
  • Nullbot will use pulses only on small tanks, don't rely at all on VTOL with the cannon branch, will prefer larger bodies for flamers and can use mortar2 and howitzer2 on small bodies
  • Nullbot will do less back-and-forth movements with skirmish weapons
  • Fix oil depletion with Warzone 2100 4.5
